Where does my trip begin and end?
Your trip begins when you arrive in Victoria International Airport, for the all inclusive fishing packages we have luxury van transportation at the airport to pick you and the group up and transported to The Lodge and the waiting salmon fishing boats, and we will transport you back to airport on the departure date, only a weighted down with wild pacific salmon and halibut...

What identification do I need when entering Canada?
Guests arriving from outside of Canada must have proper identification to clear Canada Customs. A passport is the best form of identification, but proof of citizenship (such as a birth certificate) together with photo identification (such as a driver's license) is also sufficient. Individuals with a criminal record may have difficulty entering Canada.

What clothing should I bring?
Dress at The Grouse Nest Resort is casual, so bring whatever you are comfortable wearing. Guests at The Grouse Nest are supplied with 2-piece Mustang marine suits and rubber boots. Weather conditions can vary significantly during the day at of our lodge, with temperatures ranging from 8 - 30+ Celsius (45 - 90+ F), so guests should bring clothing that can be worn in layers, sweatpants, warm socks, gloves, hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, are all recommended items.

Where can I obtain a fishing license?
Fishing licenses can be obtained when you check in with us at the start of your trip. The license fee will be added to your lodge tab.

Location
The Grouse Nest Resort is located just 40 minutes west of Victoria on the southern tip of the breathtaking Vancouver Island. Victoria is at the southern-most tip of Western Canada, directly above Seattle, Washington.

Directions from Victoria BC to The Grouse Nest Resort
- From Victoria:
- Get onto hwy #1 heading north out of town (Behind the Empress) follow that until you reach the Colwood exit. Take the Colwood exit and head towards Sooke.
- In appoximately 18 minutes you will reach the 17 mile pub, pass it and take your next left (Gillespie)
- In approximately 5-10 minutes you will reach The Grouse Nest Resort at 1424 Gillespie Road (right hand side)

Directions from BC Ferries, airport or Victoria
- From the ferry or airport:
- Head towards Victoria on the Pat Bay Highway until you reach the Mackenzie exit.
- Exit right (Nanaimo North) and stay on Mackenzie until you reach the # 1, exit right again (Nanaimo North)
- Take your second exit on your right (Colwood exit) and head through Colwood towards Sooke.
- In approximately 18 minutes you will reach the 17 mile pub. Pass it and take your next left. (Gillespie)

At The Lodge
What communication services are available at the lodges?
Cell phones: There is full service at The Lodge for cell phone providers.
Email / Internet: our Lodge do have internet services for lodge operations. We can make our lodge connections available to guests who need to check email, but access is limited.
Guest phone calls: Lodge phones are available for guest use. Long distance charges may apply for some calls.

What forms of payment are accepted at The Lodge?
Visa, MasterCard, American Express, cash and cheques can be used for any charges at our lodge.

How many hours will I spend on the water?
With our close proximity to the fishing grounds and longer days up north, The Grouse Nest Resort guests can enjoy some of the longest fishing days of any lodge on the West Coast. Depending on the time of year, our fishing hours are between 5-6am and 8-9pm, allowing for up to an average of 10 to 12 hours of fishing per day. On the first day of your trip, guests can enjoy 6 hours of fishing after arriving at the lodge. On the last day of your trip, guests will be able to fish for 3-5 hours prior to departing the lodge. Total fishing time is approximately 36 hours per 4 day trip.

What other things are there to do while staying at The Lodge.
As we are located only 40 minutes from downtown Victoria there are many services that the area offers including, award winning restaurants, local art shops and galleries, movie theatres, stunning maritime architecture, public golf courses, swimming pools, the British Columbia natural history museum is a must see. After a long day Salmon and Halibut fishing most of our guests enjoy relaxing on the oceanfront deck with a cold beverage discussing the day's adventures on the water.
